The Companion is the small Mac app that unlocks the best of DualMac:
low-latency H.264 streaming of your screen, clipboard and file transfer,
wake controls — and, if you use Claude Code or Codex, opt-in agent
supervision from your iPad.
Install
- Open the DMG and drag DualMac Companion to Applications.
- Launch it — macOS verifies the notarization automatically.
- Follow the pairing steps shown in the menu bar app, then confirm the
pairing code on your iPad.
What it can do
- Streaming — H.264, low latency, made for touch control.
- Tools — shared clipboard, file transfer, wake your Mac.
- Agents — expose your Claude Code and Codex sessions to your
iPad. Disabled by default; sharing and control are separate opt-ins, each
confirmed on the Mac with the exact list of shared data.
The Companion is optional. DualMac's classic VNC mode
connects directly to macOS Screen Sharing without it.
Privacy
The Companion talks only to your iPad, over your own network. It has no
cloud backend and no analytics. Its only outbound connection is the secure
Sparkle update check against dualmac.app. Details in the
privacy policy.
