Privacy Policy

DualMac (the iPad app) and DualMac Companion (the Mac app) are published
by Marius Labs. This policy describes what data the apps
handle and where it goes. The short version: Marius Labs operates no
DualMac account or content backend and does not receive your screen, files,
credentials or clipboard. Optional Apple sync remains governed by
Apple.
1. No account, no backend, no tracking
- DualMac requires no account and has no cloud backend operated by
Marius Labs.
- The apps contain no advertising and do not track you across apps or
websites. The iOS app uses the RevenueCat SDK to count installs and
active devices, with a random anonymous identifier that is not linked
to you.
- The iOS app also sends anonymous usage statistics to Amplitude
(Amplitude, Inc., servers in the United States) so we can see which
features work and where setup fails: how a Mac is reached (Wi‑Fi,
Tailscale, custom address, SSH tunnel), whether a connection succeeds or
why it fails and which sign-in method the Mac asks for (VNC password or
Mac account), session lengths, the number of Macs in your library, and
whether the Companion or the setup guide are used.
When the setup guide opens, the app also reports how many Macs it can
see nearby and whether Local Network access and Tailscale are on for
this device.
These events carry a random device identifier, the app version, device
model, OS version, language and region setting. They never include your
Macs' names or addresses, screen content, files, clipboard or
credentials; the app does not attach your IP address or location to
them, and no session recording is made.
- When the iOS app crashes, it sends an anonymous crash report to
Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) so we can fix the bug: the stack trace,
app version, device model, OS version, free memory and disk space, and a
random installation identifier. Crash reports never include your Macs'
names or addresses, screen content, files, clipboard or credentials, are
not linked to you and are kept for 90 days. Google Analytics is not
used.
- We have no access to your Macs, your files, your screen content or
your credentials.
2. What stays on your devices
- Machine list and settings are stored locally on your
iPad. If you explicitly enable a sync option, the disclosed connection
metadata or credentials can also be stored through your Apple iCloud or
iCloud Keychain account.
- Credentials (VNC passwords, pairing secrets) are stored
in the device Keychain.
- Screen streams, files and clipboard content travel
directly between your iPad and your Mac, over your local network or your
own private network (for example a Tailscale tailnet). They are never
routed through Marius Labs.
3. Network connections the apps make
- DualMac (iPad) connects to the Macs you add, to
RevenueCat and Amplitude for the anonymous statistics, and to Firebase
Crashlytics for the anonymous crash reports, described in section 1,
and, only for sync options you enable, to Apple iCloud services.
- DualMac Companion (Mac) accepts connections only from
paired iPads on your Tailscale tailnet, and periodically checks
dualmac.app for signed software updates (Sparkle). The
update check transmits ordinary network metadata such as IP address and
user agent to the hosting provider.
4. Data deletion
Marius Labs has no account or content record to delete. Before uninstalling,
remove each Mac from the DualMac library to delete its app-managed local
credentials, and disable any iCloud sync options you enabled. Then delete
DualMac from the iPad and move DualMac Companion to the Trash on the Mac.
Apple Keychain or iCloud data can outlive an app uninstall, so uninstalling
alone is not presented as a guaranteed Keychain deletion.
5. Children
DualMac is a developer utility, not directed at children.
6. Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at
dualmac.app/privacy with an updated
date.
